THE STORY

One of our best selling body styles is our woven Big Shirt, which is traditionally a Men's silhouette, but fashionably called the "Boyfriend Shirt" when donned by women. Primary design elements used in this wardrobe staple have origins reaching back to the early 1900's when women's apparel design embraced the contemporary ethic of clean lines and uncomplicated styling. Our rendition of this "chemise moderne" classic combines sensible styling with functional appeal, and it is crafted using natural fibered, eco-friendly TENCEL™ fabrics chosen for durability, comfort and minimal care.

Our Big Shirt features a traditional point collar with a button down front. Full length sleeves end with buttoning cuffs. The backside sports a classic yoke with a centered box pleat. The strongest of natural fibers, silk retains its shape, drapes well, caresses the figure, and because of its high absorbency, it is easily garment dyed in a variety of deep colors. This 100% Washable Silk Crêpe de Chine is woven to have a supple, organic feel, unlike many fabrics woven with synthetic fibers. With a 12 mommes weight factor, our Eco-friendly silk of choice is lightweight but is suitable for sewing into many body styles designed for women's silk clothing.


We wash or garment dye the garment before you buy it which preshrinks the fabric.
Silk fiber is actually very stronger than Cotton fiber. What makes silk delicate is if it is very shear. Shear silk can snag easily! The main reason people dry clean silk is so the garment does not shrink because most silk garment makers do not build in the shrinkage by pre washing to pre shrink…..
