For centuries linen has often been associated with wealth since it was mainly used by the upper classes of society. Linen is a bast fiber, made from the fibers of the flax plant, and it is labor-intensive to manufacture, thus produced in relatively small quantities. When fabricated, it is highly valued for its’ smooth texture, organic natural luster, and exceptional coolness in hot weather. A very durable and strong fabric, linen is one of the few that is stronger wet than dry, and it has no lint or pilling tendency. Nevertheless, the tendency to wrinkle is often considered part of the fabric’s “charm”, including its’ random “slubs” (small knots) that provide the aesthetic appeal of a natural product. 

This premium Linen is lightweight, semi-sheer and gets softer the more it is washed. Linen is also highly absorbent, which makes for an ideal garment in keeping the wearer cool and comfortable. 

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Machine wash warm with like colors (preferably on gentle cycle) and with mild detergent (do not use bleach, and do not pour fabric softener directly on garment). Tumble dry low, or line dry, or air dry on a good non-absorbent hanger. Warm, steam iron (to reverse side). Dry clean OK.

Linen is a bast fiber, made from the fibers of the flax plant, and it is labor-intensive to manufacture, thus produced in relatively small quantities. When fabricated, it is highly valued for its’ smooth texture, organic natural luster, and exceptional coolness in hot weather. A very durable and strong fabric, linen is one of the few that is stronger wet than dry, and it has no lint or pilling tendency. Nevertheless, the tendency to wrinkle is often considered part of the fabric’s “charm”, including its’ random “slubs” (small knots) that provide the aesthetic appeal of a natural product.

This premium Linen Voile is lightweight, semi-sheer and gets softer the more it is washed. Linen Voile is also highly absorbent, which makes for an ideal garment in keeping the wearer cool and comfortable.

With easy care in mind, the "washable" silk fabric chosen for this garment makes it a sensible fashion investment.

Our classic Loving Blouse features a traditional point collar with a triple stitched button down front. Full length sleeves end with buttoned square cuffs. For a stylish look the sleeves can also be rolled back toward the elbow and fastened with a buttoning tab. A full bodied fit with very rich draping offers long wearing comfort. The slightly round bottom hem falls to the hips, has side slits, and the backside is fashionably longer than the front. The strongest of natural fibers, silk retains its shape, drapes well, caresses the figure, and because of its high absorbency, it is easily garment dyed in a variety of deep colors. This 100% Washable Silk Crêpe de Chine is woven to have a supple, organic feel, unlike many fabrics woven with synthetic fibers. With a 12 mommes weight factor, our Eco-friendly silk of choice is lightweight but is suitable for sewing into many body styles designed for women's silk clothing.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Machine wash warm with like colors, and with mild detergent (do not use bleach). Tumble dry low, or line dry. Warm iron (silk setting). Dry Clean OK.

Our enchanting Scarlet fabric print draws inspiration from classical floral designs of the Victorian era during the early 1900’s. This was a time of brief return to romanticism in all art forms, including architecture, residential décor, and apparel. This was also a period where floral designs became more lavish, and utilized in excess. Floral patterns were often realistic and often combined to create a mélange of diverse species, thus imitating the contrived cottage gardens that were in vogue at that time.

Our Scarlet print here features a collage of exotic cottage flowers in pattern repeat, including Forest Violets, Japanese Peonies, Wild Daisies, Passion Fruit flowers, Orange Osmanthus, and Serrated Dianthus.
